Katie Benyo has played the violin for over 20 years and fiddle for 13. She has a bachelors of music from Missouri Western University, and is currently working towards a masters in violin performance at UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance studying with Joseph Genualdi.
She began exploring alternative styles of music and instruments over 10 years ago. In addition to her classical studies, she's had the opportunity to study fiddle music with Matt Wyatt, Justin Branum, Daniel Carwile, and Junior Marriott.
Katie has led an active performing and teaching career, performing in weddings, fiddle contests, with symphonies and for various events for over 10 years. She has performed on the Chamber Music Sunday's at 3 concert series, with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Kinnor Philharmonic, and with the St. Joseph Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the band Tipping Holly, a "new-grass" band based out of Cape Girardeau, MO, the country western band, the Starhaven Rounders, the mariachi/rock band, Maria The Mexican, the street folk/punk rock musician, Dead Ven, classical groups like Classical Revolution KC, and Midwest Chamber Ensemble, and more!
She has taught privately for over 13 years as well as teaching at various music camps around the state.
